Here are the notes of the first GeoScouting Meeting on November 13th posted by Renee Siegel. Since the Chapter is going to actively support and promote GeoCaching, we will work closely with this group.

1. "Treasures of Scouting"--Scout-themed geocaches that showcase Scouting people and programs: Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing, Scouting Alumni, and Volunteers
Cache to Eagle Series--
---possibly a series within each district (there are 6 districts within Bluegrass Council) Start with Palisades/Elkhorn (Renee & Ryan Siegel), and Lake Cumberland (Dale Morton)
---patch for completion of a series
---any FTF prizes???
---segment patch for each district as each district is completed (segments would fit & circle around main (Council?) Cache to Eagle patch)
---Marlene Gonzalez checking into patches & patch segments (to have information ready for Dec 2 meeting)

2. "Pillars of Scouting"--Trackables (Scout-themed geocoins and travel bugs that go from cache to cache around the nation to highlight core Scouting values)
Race to 2010 --Trackable Pinewood Derby (geocoins? or travel bugs?) for racing
3. Upcoming GeoScouting Events--For our Council
A. (Event) Cache In Trash Out (CITO)--Partnering with Geocaching.com, a single day of service throughout America. More information coming soon. (Spring 2010???)
--do in each district IF there is at least 1 to 2 people in that district to organize & run event
--choose location that needs CITO badly
--have at least 1 cache (new or existing) near the CITO event
--alternative ideas on doing the CITO where date conflicts arise
---each district hold a CITO as close to the actual date as possible
B. (Activity) Cub Scout Spring Campout--Camp McKee, KY First weekend of May 2010
--add geocaching or GeoScouting activity to teach young boys & leaders/parents how to play
--need GPSr's to loan out or bring their own??
---Council has 5 Garmin Etrex models for loaning out now
--temporary caches at Camp McKee for activity?
